Mechbunny vs KVS: Which Is Better for Tube Sites?

Adult SEO & Digital Growth Journal

KVS publishes current prices from $99 and needs PHP 8.1; Mechbunny's public docs still list PHP 5.6 to 7.4. Price, features, requirements, SEO and a verdict for tube sites.

Mechbunny vs KVS: Which Is Better for Tube Sites?

For a new tube site, KVS is the stronger choice on the evidence available today. It publishes a full price list starting at $99 one-time, a current server specification (PHP 8.1 and MySQL 8.0 or newer) and a dated release history: KVS 7.0.2 shipped on 8 June 2026. Mechbunny’s public help center still documents a V6 installation on PHP 5.6 to 7.4, and PHP 7.4 reached end of life on 28 November 2022.

That does not make Mechbunny a bad script. Even a forum account that prefers KVS called it “a reliable one” and “a cheaper solution”, its paysite and CDN support are documented, and its license terms, as last published in 2020, favor anyone running many sites. But its public record is thin and mostly dated, so anyone choosing it should get the current version, price, license terms and PHP support confirmed in writing before paying.

This comparison uses each vendor’s own documentation: KVS’s pricing, requirements and services pages, and Mechbunny’s public help center, all checked on 30 September 2026. Where a vendor’s own figure could not be confirmed, the most recent dated third-party figure is given and labelled as such. Nothing here is estimated.

Key Takeaways

  • KVS costs less to start, on the prices we could confirm. Basic costs $99, Advanced $299 and Ultimate $499, all one-time and perpetual for one domain. Ultimate can also be rented for $49 a month. The most recent public figure for Mechbunny is a regular license cost of 399 EUR, from a MojoHost announcement dated November 2020.
  • For tube sites, the KVS tier matters. Grabbers, bulk import and “SEO and Video Indexing” are in every package. Model and pornstar pages, member accounts and age verification start at Advanced. User uploads, multilingual sites and satellite networks need Ultimate.
  • The server stacks are a generation apart. KVS needs PHP 8.1 and MySQL 8.0 or MariaDB 11.6. Mechbunny’s requirements article lists PHP 5.6 to 7.4 and MySQL 5.6.14, and its dependency guide targets CentOS 6 and 7.
  • Licensing favors Mechbunny for networks. MojoHost’s 2020 announcement says a Mechbunny license can be used “for any number of your websites” and includes “99% of the source code”. KVS licenses one domain at a time and sells its unencoded PHP source separately for $299.
  • KVS has costs after checkout. Running your own VAST ad provider in its player needs a subscription on perpetual licenses ($20 for one month, $120 for twelve), and updates after the included period cost $100 a year. Skipping updates is risky: KVS 7.0.2 fixed a bug it rated severe, without which “the player will not start in Chrome”.
  • Switching is a known path. KVS’s $499 migration service lists Mechbunny as a supported source and sets up 301 redirects for agreed URL patterns.

Which One Should You Choose?

What Mechbunny and KVS Actually Are

KVS (Kernel Video Sharing) describes itself as “a self-hosted video CMS for building, managing and monetizing video websites and platforms”. It has been developed since 2009 and publishes a dated news log. KVS 7.0.1, released on 18 May 2026, added an NSFW/SFW detector to KVS Conversion Cloud that picks a safe thumbnail and fragment to show before age verification is passed. KVS 7.0.2 followed on 8 June 2026 with a fix KVS marked “[SEVERE]”: without it, “the player will not start in Chrome”, and KVS said all sites would be affected by 22 September 2026. KVS says it powers “more than 14,000 video websites”, a vendor figure we could not check independently.

Mechbunny sells a PHP tube script, along with other software such as a directory script. Its public help center at support.mechbunny.com documents a V6 installation, a tube scraper that depends on youtube-dl, paysite settings with CCBill postback, watermarking through FFmpeg command lines, and URL signing for the Highwinds and MojoHost CDNs. Seven of the eight articles in its Tube Script section are dated 15 August 2021; the CDN article was updated on 12 January 2025.

That documentation gap is part of the comparison. You can size a KVS project from its public pages alone. A Mechbunny buyer has to ask.

Pricing Compared

KVS packages

KVS sells three packages on its pricing page, each “one perpetual KVS license for one domain”. Every new license includes one free installation, free product support and, when needed, a free extra license for a development subdomain such as dev.domain.com.

PackagePriceUpdates includedHow KVS describes it
Basic$99 one-time6 months“For video websites without user registration”
Advanced$299 one-time6 months“For membership, subscription and VOD projects”
Ultimate$499 one-time1 year“For communities, UGC projects and advanced video platforms”
Ultimate rental$49 a monthFor the whole rentalIncludes the VAST subscription and one free license-domain change per month

The terms are unusually clear for this market: “The one-time Basic, Advanced and Ultimate licenses are perpetual. Your installed KVS version remains fully functional after the included update period ends.” The rental works differently. “KVS may be suspended if the rental period expires and the renewal payment is not received,” so a lapsed card can take the site down.

For networks, KVS sells multi-license packs, from 3 Ultimate licenses for $1,272 to 20 for $3,992, and 10 satellite licenses for $1,369. Free installation is not included in those pack prices.

What KVS charges for after checkout

These prices come from the KVS services page. Several of them matter to a tube site from day one.

ServicePrice
Additional installation (the first one is free)$50
Server setup, per server$99
Unencoded PHP source code, one domain$299
Branding-free player, one domain$99
VAST advertising subscription, per license$20 for 1 month, $90 for 6 months, $120 for 12 months
One year of updates, all your licenses$100
Version update performed by KVS$50
Package upgrade$250 (Basic to Advanced), $450 (Basic to Ultimate), $250 (Advanced to Ultimate)
License domain change$50
License ownership transfer$50
Satellite website license$249
Project migration (Mechbunny is a supported source)$499

Two things follow from those numbers. First, buy the package you need up front. Basic plus the Basic-to-Ultimate upgrade costs $549, which is $50 more than buying Ultimate outright. Second, if you plan to run your own VAST ad provider, renting can be cheaper in year one. Twelve months of rental cost $588 and include the VAST subscription and updates. A perpetual Ultimate plus twelve months of VAST costs $619. From year two, the perpetual license costs $120 a year for VAST, plus $100 if you want updates, against $588 to keep renting.

Mechbunny pricing

We could not confirm Mechbunny’s current price from a public page, so check it with Mechbunny before budgeting. The most recent public figures are dated:

  • November 2020: a MojoHost announcement says the “regular license cost of 399 EUR” becomes “a 1-time payment of $220” with its MB2 or MBPro hosting bundles, or $320 with MB1. Those plans were listed at $49, $99 and $199 a month. The same post says buyers “receive 99% of the source code”, that the license “restricts only resale or redistribution”, and that “you can use the software for any number of your websites”.
  • July 2019: an account documenting a Mechbunny build on BlackHatWorld wrote that “~450 USD was a steal”. Another member later suggested that thread was a promotion, so weigh it accordingly.

On those numbers, KVS Basic ($99) is the cheapest way into either script, and KVS Advanced ($299) costs less than Mechbunny’s 2020 list price, though not its $220 bundle price. For a network the comparison flips: if Mechbunny’s 2020 terms still apply, one license covers every site you own, while KVS charges per domain. Neither Mechbunny figure says what is included today, so get the current price and license terms in writing.

Features Compared for Tube Sites

Content import and grabbers

Every KVS package includes content grabbers, bulk import and import feeds. KVS describes “grabbers for popular video platforms, flexible import and export feeds, custom-field support, scheduled posting, and date-based publishing”. Its requirements page lists youtube-dl or yt-dlp “if video grabbers are required”.

Mechbunny’s requirements list “Youtube-dl (required for tube scraper to work)”. The 2019 forum account described “functions to pull video data from 14 different porn tube sites” and three layouts. It also reported that the Eporner importer was broken out of the box; that report is seven years old and may no longer apply.

Whichever script you use, imported videos arrive with the same titles and descriptions as the site they came from, so they compete with the original. Rewrite titles, descriptions and tags. Our guide to adult video tag optimization techniques covers how. KVS’s AI tools can “generate titles and descriptions” and rewrite texts, which helps at scale, but review what they produce before it goes live.

Video conversion, storage and delivery

KVS Conversion Cloud converts videos, generates trailers and creates screenshots “on demand in the cloud”. The player supports “HD, 4K, 8K, AV1, and H.265”, and delivery can be spread across “multiple storage and conversion servers, S3-compatible storage, the CDN solution of your choice”. Multiple video formats and codecs start at Advanced; multi-server conversion is an Ultimate feature.

Mechbunny’s requirements list FFmpeg with x264, ImageMagick and MP4Box. Its dependency guide installs a static FFmpeg 3.1.2 build from Mechbunny’s own repository and compiles ImageMagick 7.0.2-9. Its watermark article adds overlay filters to the FFmpeg command lines “for desktop and mobile”. For delivery, Mechbunny documents URL signing for the Highwinds and MojoHost CDNs through a hook function you add to admin/functions.custom.php, covering formats including mp4 and m3u8.

Ads, paysites and billing

KVS’s built-in player handles “VAST, pre-roll, post-roll, pause, and overlay advertising” in every package. Using “a VAST-compatible advertising provider of your choice” needs the VAST subscription on perpetual licenses, and each license needs its own. Paid access, subscriptions and VOD start at Advanced. KVS names “CCBill, SegPay, Epoch, PayPal, CoinPayments, NOWPayments, NATS, MPA3, and more” among its supported billing and cryptocurrency solutions. Ultimate adds tokenomics, content subscriptions and creator payouts.

Mechbunny documents CCBill user management and tells you to “enable ccbill postback in the tube script admin area settings under paysite settings”. Other processors are not covered in its public help center. For how the adult processors differ on fees, reserves and rules, see our comparison of adult payment processors.

Pornstar pages, members and community

In KVS, “Models, Actors and Other Personalities” and “Member Accounts, Favorites and Playlists” start at Advanced. “User Profiles and Content Uploads” and “Community and Social Features” are Ultimate-only. Basic is described as “For video websites without user registration”.

For Mechbunny, the 2019 forum account says the content table has a pornstars field that the import function did not fill, and that imported videos arrived without views or ratings, though Mechbunny includes a “random rating option”. Current behavior is not documented publicly.

This matters more than it looks. Model pages give a tube site a crawlable landing page for every performer it covers. If they are part of your plan, KVS Basic is the wrong package.

SEO features

KVS includes “SEO and Video Indexing” in every package. Its website builder offers “SEO-friendly architecture, sitemaps, and JSON-LD markup”. Every package also includes what KVS calls a “Two-Level Video and Screenshot CTR Rotator”, CTR being click-through rate. Its migration service configures “301 redirects for the agreed URL patterns to preserve search visibility”.

Mechbunny’s public help center does not cover SEO features. That does not prove they are missing, so ask for a demo and check the basics: one crawlable watch page per video, editable titles and descriptions, VideoObject structured data, a video sitemap, and control over which tag and category pages are indexed. Our guide to SEO for video-heavy adult websites explains each one.

Multi-site networks and languages

A KVS satellite lets you “launch another website with its own design, structure, URLs and SEO while reusing the database and content of an existing KVS project”. Each satellite “can use independent titles and descriptions for content and categorization”, which keeps a network from publishing the same text on every domain. Satellites and multilingual websites are Ultimate features, and extra satellite licenses cost $249 each. Mechbunny’s help center does not cover either.

The PHP versions are the biggest practical difference. According to php.net, PHP 7.4, the newest version on Mechbunny’s 2021 requirements list, reached end of life on 28 November 2022. KVS is not spotless either. Its standard, encoded build targets PHP 8.1, which reached end of life on 31 December 2025. The unencoded source runs on PHP 8.1 to 8.4, and PHP 8.4 has security support until 31 December 2028. If you want a fully supported PHP version under KVS today, budget for the $299 source code.

Mechbunny’s dependency guide was written for CentOS 6 and 7. Red Hat states that CentOS Linux 7 “reached end of life (EOL) on June 30, 2024”. Mechbunny’s current release may support newer systems, but its 2021 article cannot tell you that, so ask for the current requirements in writing.

Two setup details deserve attention. Mechbunny’s installation guide sets ten directories to 777 “recursively”, which makes them writable by every account on the server. Run the site under its own system user and keep it off shared hosting. KVS recommends Nginx as a reverse proxy in front of Apache for delivery and content protection, and advises against cPanel on servers that store and deliver video, because some cPanel installations block the Nginx rules its protection needs.

An unpatched stack is a security problem first. Once a site is compromised, it becomes an SEO problem too.

Support, Updates and What Users Report

KVS says its support comes directly from the programmers who develop KVS. Its free product support “covers KVS functionality, configuration, updates, troubleshooting, server requirements and project-specific recommendations”, but not custom development or third-party server software. Updates are included for 6 months (Basic and Advanced) or 1 year (Ultimate). After that they cost $100 a year for all your licenses, and the installed version keeps working if you do not renew.

Community reports on KVS support are mixed. A BlackHatWorld thread from April 2022 complained that it took “up to a week” to get a response. In April 2026, an account named KVS Team replied that a response is provided “within 24 hours on business days”. Treat both as claims rather than measurements.

Mechbunny runs a help center with a request form. The 2019 forum account said the “staff has been very quick to respond to my inquiries, and helpful”, while calling the documentation “poorly maintained” and “specific to RHEL or Centos”. The most recent help center update we found is from 12 January 2025.

Forum opinion splits the same way this comparison does. In a Mechbunny vs KVS thread on BlackHatWorld, started in 2022, an account called Adult-HTML, which posts as a business (“We work with both scripts”), called Mechbunny “a reliable one” and “a cheaper solution”, then recommended KVS as “powerful, well-designed, well-coded”. It is one business’s view, not a survey.

KVS: Why and Why Not

Why choose KVS

  • Published, current pricing, from $99 one-time, with perpetual licenses that keep working after updates end.
  • Active development: 7.0.1 in May 2026 and 7.0.2 in June 2026, with a dated public news log.
  • Tube essentials in every package: grabbers, bulk import, the CTR rotator, player advertising, and SEO and video indexing.
  • Room to scale: separate storage and conversion servers, S3-compatible storage, any CDN, and satellite networks.
  • Broad billing support, including CCBill, SegPay, Epoch, PayPal and crypto options.
  • Free first installation, plus a migration service that includes 301 redirects.

Why not choose KVS

  • Tiering bites tube sites: model pages and memberships need Advanced ($299); uploads, languages and satellites need Ultimate ($499).
  • VAST costs extra on perpetual licenses: $20 for one month or $120 for twelve, per license.
  • Encoded by default and tied to PHP 8.1, which reached end of life on 31 December 2025, unless you buy the $299 source code.
  • Updates are not free forever: $100 a year after the included period, and skipping them has a cost. KVS 7.0.2 fixed a bug that, by KVS’s own account, stops the player starting in Chrome.
  • Per-domain licensing: every site needs its own license or a $249 satellite license, which adds up across a network.
  • The player’s JavaScript source is never included, even with the source code purchase.
  • Not a cPanel product: KVS advises against cPanel on servers that store and deliver video.

Mechbunny: Why and Why Not

Why choose Mechbunny

  • One license for all your sites, according to MojoHost in 2020: “you can use the software for any number of your websites”, with “99% of the source code” included.
  • A reputation for reliability: even Adult-HTML, a business that prefers KVS, called it “a reliable one”.
  • Paysite billing with CCBill postback is documented.
  • CDN URL signing for Highwinds and MojoHost is documented and was updated in January 2025, and MojoHost has sold hosting bundles built around the script.
  • A built-in tube scraper for importing video data from other tubes.
  • Support praised as quick and helpful in a 2019 forum write-up, though another member questioned that thread.

Why not choose Mechbunny

  • Dated public requirements: PHP 5.6 to 7.4, a range whose last version reached end of life on 28 November 2022, and a dependency guide for CentOS 6 and 7.
  • No current public price we could confirm; the latest public figure dates from 2020.
  • Thin documentation: seven of eight tube script articles are dated 15 August 2021.
  • Loose file permissions: the install guide sets ten directories to 777.
  • License terms unconfirmed: the only public statement of them we found is MojoHost’s 2020 announcement.
  • Performance questions: in 2019 a forum account reported “sql queries in loops” that used “more than 75% of the total processing power of a 4 cpu server” while inserting new videos. That may have been fixed since, but ask.

Which Is Better for Tube Site SEO?

Neither script ranks a site on its own. What ranks a tube site is what you build on it: crawlable watch pages, unique titles and descriptions, useful thumbnails, VideoObject structured data, video sitemaps, sensible tag and category indexing, and fast pages. For the service side of that work, see our porn tube SEO page.

Where the scripts differ is how much of that you can see before buying. KVS documents sitemaps, JSON-LD markup and a video indexing feature in every package, satellites with their own titles and descriptions, and redirect handling in migrations. Mechbunny’s public documentation says nothing about SEO either way. On documented evidence, KVS gives an SEO team more to work with from day one.

Migrating from Mechbunny to KVS

KVS’s Project Migration service costs $499 and lists Mechbunny among 13 supported sources, alongside platforms such as Adult Video Script, Clipshare, Smart Tube Pro, Tube Ace and WordPress. The service installs KVS on a development subdomain, runs a test migration, then moves “videos, albums, categories, tags, models, channels, members, favorites, friends, messages and subscriptions”. It runs extra synchronization passes, configures 301 redirects for the agreed URL patterns, and switches the new project to the main domain. Design is not included: “Website design migration is not included.”

The redirects are where a migration keeps or loses its rankings. Before the switch:

  • Crawl the Mechbunny site and export every indexed URL type: videos, categories, tags, models and static pages.
  • Agree a redirect rule with KVS for each URL pattern, and test a sample of each after launch.
  • Keep the titles and descriptions of pages that already rank.
  • Submit the new sitemaps in Google Search Console on switch day, and watch the page and video indexing reports in the weeks after.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is KVS better than Mechbunny for a tube site?

For a new tube site, yes, on the evidence available. KVS publishes current prices, a current server specification and a 2026 release, and includes grabbers, bulk import and SEO and video indexing in every package. Mechbunny’s public documentation still targets PHP 5.6 to 7.4, so confirm its current version and requirements before choosing it.

How much does KVS cost?

Basic is $99, Advanced $299 and Ultimate $499, each a one-time payment for a perpetual license on one domain. Ultimate can also be rented for $49 a month. Updates are included for 6 months (Basic and Advanced) or 1 year (Ultimate), then cost $100 a year.

How much does Mechbunny cost?

We could not confirm a current price from a public page. The most recent public figure is a regular license cost of 399 EUR, a one-time payment, in a MojoHost announcement from November 2020. The same post says the license can be used for any number of your own websites. Ask Mechbunny for today’s price and terms.

Can I move my Mechbunny site to KVS?

Yes. KVS’s $499 Project Migration service lists Mechbunny as a supported source. It moves videos, categories, tags, models, members and more, and configures 301 redirects for agreed URL patterns. Site design is not migrated.

Do KVS and Mechbunny need ionCube?

KVS needs ionCube Loader 15 or newer unless you buy the unencoded PHP source code for $299. Mechbunny’s requirements list the ionCube loader, newest version available, although MojoHost’s 2020 announcement says Mechbunny buyers receive 99% of the source code.

Which PHP version do they need?

KVS needs PHP 8.1 for standard installations, or PHP 8.1 to 8.4 with the unencoded source code. Mechbunny’s 2021 requirements article lists PHP 5.6 to 7.4.

Can one license run several tube sites?

With KVS, no: each license covers one domain, so extra sites need their own license, a $249 satellite license, or a multi-license pack. For Mechbunny, MojoHost’s 2020 announcement says the license can be used for any number of your websites. Confirm that is still true before you plan a network around it.

Which payment processors does KVS support?

KVS names CCBill, SegPay, Epoch, PayPal, CoinPayments, NOWPayments, NATS and MPA3 “and more”. Paid access and subscriptions start at the Advanced package.

The Short Version

If you are starting a tube site today, choose KVS in the package that matches your plan: Basic for a grabber-and-embed tube, Advanced for model pages and members, Ultimate for uploads, languages and site networks. Mechbunny is worth a serious look if you run many sites, but only after it confirms in writing its current version, price, license terms, PHP support and update policy. Either way, the script is only the foundation.
